MLK Commemoration

Each January, the division of University Life convenes a committee, chaired by ODIME, to facilitate a campus-wide recognition of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his vision of equality in United States. This celebration is traditionally marked by a variety of events held across campus and sponsored by a number of offices and academic departments. The Celebration concludes with an Evening of Reflection, where we present the Spirit of King Awards to an outstanding Student & Faculty/Staff member.

The Spirit of King Awards

The Spirit of King Award is given to one student and one faculty/staff member who have made exceptional contributions to the development of a multicultural campus community. The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Multicultural Education, as well as the campus-wide committee on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, consider each nomination and the winners are announced at the Annual MLK Jr. Evening of Reflection event.
